WHAT: Rally for Economic Survival: Lift the Moratorium
WHEN: July 21, 2010
11am – 1pm
WHERE: Lafayette Cajundome
444 Cajundome Blvd.
Lafayette, LA
A major rally opposing the federal moratorium on deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico is
planned for Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Lafayette Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Rally
for Economic Survival is expected to draw 15,000‐20,000 concerned citizens who fear the
moratorium will destroy tens of thousands of jobs in Louisiana and devastate the economy in less
than a year. The Rally is intended to show the Obama administration the faces of the people most
impacted by the drilling moratorium. It will provide them an opportunity to send a clear and united
message to the president ‐ lift the moratorium immediately and protect Louisiana’s jobs and
America’s energy future.
The Rally will feature local, state and national speakers who share the same concern of the
moratorium creating a seismic economic ripple effect that will negatively impact every citizen of
the United States. (See attached agenda.)
Doors of the Cajundome open at 9:00am. Sammy Kershaw will perform beginning at 10:30am with
the formal program starting at 10:55am. Additional parking is available at Blackham Coliseum with
shuttle service running to and from the Cajundome beginning at 8:30am. Concessions will be
available for purchase inside the Cajundome. Participants are asked NOT to bring bags, signs,
umbrellas, etc. so that check‐in at security goes faster.

Quick Facts: The moratorium has done more than stopped drilling. It has brought to a standstill
economic recovery in Louisiana and along the Gulf Coast. In one act, the Obama
administration has signed the pink slips of tens of thousands of Louisiana citizens.
‐ Nearly 33 percent of domestic oil and 10 percent of natural gas is produced in
the Gulf of Mexico.
‐ The oil and gas industry employs tens of thousands of people and supports
hundreds of thousands of jobs in Louisiana.
‐ The industry contributes tens of billions of dollars annually to the state’s
economy.
